We had the most popular Yoga for Foodies last night at Makara Studio! Woo hoo! Some 20-25 people showed up for the food after an awesome yoga class. The class was taught by a yoga teacher Keiko who was visiting from Japan. It was a relaxing class. And then we had some awesome sushi and soba noodles.
And yes, the food was sponsored by iFood.tv! A big shout out to them for supporting Yoga for Foodies and for community initiatives.

We have written previously about all the awesome stuff going on at Makara Studio, including Yoga for Foodies Friday and donation classes.
Hannah has travelled to India to study Yoga, its traditions and practices both the Iyengar and Ashtanga styles. Besides starting Makara Studio and being an instructor, she is also...

Really awesome to see our friends, fellow yogis and partners, Makara Studio and its founders (Jonathon Borin and Hannah Harpole) being featured in the YogaCity blog today! A great article that articulated the essence of the founder's vision for Makara so aptly, a neighborhood studio, 'with a Big Heart.' 110% right.
It is incredible to see the studio come along - from its inception, to first day of class to seeing packed classes and very shortly, the addition to two new teachers! And of course, coming over to the studio for our ever popular weekly Friday evening Yoga for foodies. And we are priviliged...

We kick off the daily Yoga Pose of the day series (much like the Quote of the Day for Yogis series that is so well put together by our YogaAnywhere Fellow, Kimberly), with the Head stand pose (also known as Shirsh Asana).
Headstand is among the most immediately recognizable poses that one associates with yoga and one of the most important ones as well. Headstand is one of the key inversion poses. When correctly done and practiced, this pose can benefit one tremendously. The pose utilizes the gravitational force to channelize the blood to the heart and brain without the heart having to do any work.

Update: We had a great evening yesterday at the Yoga for foodies. There was so much good food - the mole and beans made by Hannah were awesome. The tacos were delish. Then Emily had made some chocolate dipped peanut butter rice crispy balls which were irresistible. And yours truly took a crack at making some guacamole!
Come on over for our future Yoga for foodies

We had a magical evening yesterday, March 10th at Makara Studio One of those evenings where everything is blessed with divine energy. An evening marked by doing sun salutations (yes both Kim and myself, representing the YogaAnywhere duo, completed 108 salutations) as part of Odanadis' YogaStopsTraffic initiative and then celebrating Holi, the festival of colors that is celebrated all across India. But it was more than just doing - it was being, celebrating, sharing, chatting, imbibing, chanting (a bit), cooking and eating. Yes, thanks to Makara Co-founder, Hannah, we had a delicious meal...
