Just heard an Internet talk, organized by the Cure Panel talk show, on Yoga for the Middle Aged people with Dr. Larry Page and 4 other yoga teachers, Marcela Clavijo, Micheline, Dashama and Char Grossman. The panel discussed the importance of yoga for the middle aged (45-75 age group) who are often not sure if they can do yoga at this age.

Folks, we are back with Yoga for Foodies after the summer break. We will be kicking off things with a Yoga for Foodies at Makara Studio on Friday Sept 6th. The event will consist of a yoga class from 7 to 8.15 pm followed by food. We will be having salad, awesome pizza and ice-cream sandwiches. Its $15 for the class and minimum $5 suggested donation for the food. All donations will go to benefit Bent on Learning, a wonderful non-profit that brings yoga to public school children.

This is super exciting. I have been visiting a Sufi Dergah and Mosque at 245 West Broadway for Friday Jummah prayers for almost a year now and today I met someone who is going to start Hu Yoga - combining Yoga with Sufi practices. This is personally exciting because it is great to see Yoga being practiced in the Muslim community. Last year i used to organize a Yoga class after the Friday Jummah prayers at Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital and have been hoping to start yoga practice at the Dergah as well. Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York is celebrating its 25th anniversary on Nov 14th. Woo Hoo! Join us for a gala event where gods come to life, delicious indian food is served, and a spectacle of music and dance is sure to uplift and inspire you.

Folks, the Iyengar Yoga Institute is having a community event on Sat Oct 20th from 7-9pm - right after the 5 pm level 1 yoga class. And we are very excited that YogaAnywhere will be working with the Bukhara Grill, one of the best indian restaurants to sponsor food for the event, under our Yoga for Foodies Initiative.
The community night is free for all and so is the food. And if you would like to do yoga before, you can take the 5-6.30pm class that day (the class price ranges from $18 to $25 depending on your membership type) .
