Hanging out for YogaShots - quick jaunt to Terri a Juice bar to get Lemon Ginger Cleansing Shot after Yoga Class at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Chelsea

This wednesday we decided to have some fun! That is after our weekly wednesday evening Iyengar Yoga Class with Marcela at the Iyengar Yoga Institute. A group of us have been taking this class fairly regularly for a few months and it is always so that people just dont get a chance to say hellos or chit chat - you come into class and then leave right after. So this wednesday we thought it would be nice to try out a sort of 'in the moment Yoga for Foodies like outing' (we started Yoga for foodies exactly for this reason - to give people a chance to to do yoga and then interact with each other...

The High of Yoga – In Headstand Pose Outside Duane Reade on Grand and Broadway

Doing a Headstand - Duane reade - donald trump

This was a blast. My friend and yoga buddy Jonathon had stopped by for practice in the evening and then stayed over to do some work and chat up. Around 11.30 he asked to me step down to say hello to a buddy of his who was visiting the city. What was supposed to be a 5 min, "hello" became an blast. We got down to meet his friend at the corner of Grand Street and Broadway and in the exuberance of buddies meeting and getting excited, Jonathon decided to do a headstand. He had been meaning to strike a pose our blog, and it so happened, that today was the moment. And lo and behold he was up there...

It was exciting to see the traditional bar serving 'non-alcoholic' beverages like "lemon ginger" (see image below - it sure packed a punch). The highlight of the evening was the kickoff which started with a collective chant...

Long Live the Yogis, Really!

Father of Modern Yoga - T Krishnamacharya lived till 101 years.

Ever wondered how long the yoga gurus or yogis live or can live for? In vedic scriptures the life span of man is considered to be 100 years but then that always sounds theoretical. So lets take a look. Going back to the master of all masters...
